Kindergarten Graduation...

...I believe may be comparable to what I will be feeling the day my girls graduate from high school.

I remember Ella's teacher sending home a welcome note at the beginning of the year stating, "that they will change so much this year, we won't believe they are the same children that they were at the beginning of the year." Kind of a bold statement, I thought. Actually scared and bothered me a bit, but a month before school ended, I knew exactly what he was talking about. They had changed, they were completely different in a wonderful, yet sad way! So dependent, so grown-up, so aware of others! (most of the time ;)

Ella made snicker doodles to bring to class for the big day.

I made class gifts for her two teachers that turned out super cute! It's a picture of a quilt that the class made for a school auction. They made $2000.00
off of the original quilt that had the children's self portraits sewn together on it. We, are not the parents who purchased the quilt! Cutest Kindergarten graduation ever. Once the welcome was given by the principal, the piano started and never stopped! All K classes had their own little performances, with the cutest little songs in between while classes moved into their places. So, so fun to watch as a parent. Got it on tape, but way too long to post. A parent put together an amazing slide show of the year, which the rest of us cried over.

You've exceeded all of our expectations Ella and we love you!

I am SO excited to get to do kindergarten again next year with Paisley, although a little nervous that it couldn't possibly be as wonderful as this year has been to us! We'll see! And we'll also see if we are even living in the same state come September!

Our favorite Pre-K teacher Ms Santiago.

Congratulations Paisley Anne! We love you so much, are so proud of you and know that you will be fantastic in Kindergarten!

So, near the end of the graduation, Ms. Santiago turns on a Spanish song that the children are to dance to in front of everyone. She did the same thing last year at Ella's graduation. Not your typical pre-k performance, but it represents Ms. Santiago's culture and who doesn't love watching little kids dance? It's by Shakira I believe so you can get an idea of what kind of shaking could be involved. So, all of the children are on stage just goin' crazy and dancing to the rap-like song. And after, the principal stands up and says in a high pitched uncomfortable voice,

"That was straight up college prep right there folks, they're ready to be freshmen in college now!"

Hahahahaha! Loved it.

Catch-up!

This is barely the light of a firefly that Scott brought home one night after running in Central Park. It had flown right into the palm of his hand and injured itself. Scott wanted to show the girls, since they'd never seen one in a jar before. We've GOT to make it back there this summer to see the display of them!

This is a picture of Scott right before his first job interview. I took one before he interviewed for his first job at Sunrise Hospital as well, so it is like tradition slash good luck!

This is a picture of Paisley practicing names. She is trying to get REALLY good at writing Ella so that she can write Ella on the wall or furniture and then blame it on Ella saying that,
"Well it says Ella!" Little stinker trying to get her sister in trouble!
She is still writing with both hands! It's crazy! Scott and I are both left handed, but do certain tasks and sports with our right, so we're kind of not surprised, but I hope her poor brain isn't all confused!

"Bee Day" at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden

The Brooklyn Botanical garden celebrated it's 100th birthday with a "Bee Day" Education Celebration! All kinds of activities from planting bee friendly plants, to dressing up as bees, to science activities, to live music and of course....lots of New York Honey vendors! Yum. We had a very fun family day together and I can't wait to go visit again. Simply beautiful.

And like 12 dollar honey for the high maintenance honey connoisseurs. They sampled all the honey from every honey farm from Maine to Conneticut! They'll only eat the real-real stuff...no bear bottle honey for them. I can't wait for them to be teenagers!

The girls got soaked on our way back to the train station just by standing by this water exhibit outside of the Brooklyn Museum. I'm kind of digging Brooklyn. I need to get out there more often.
