Apartment #2

 

So here are a few pictures I took before we moved in to our new apartment. This is how the layout goes...it is considered a railroad track apartment b/c each room runs into eachother in one long line. So if you are facing our street you would be looking into the girls bedroom which then leads into the den, which leads into the living room, (where the front door is) which leads into a hallway where the bathroom and then kitchen are. I really like this layout.

An intersting fact about our apartment...the only kitchen counter, which is about 1 ft. wide, is spray painted SILVER of all colors! It is SO special. We are surviving though. Most preparing is done over the sink or stove-top. Ahhh...gotta love the life out here!

Walking Ella to school is so unbelievably wonderful that I don't even have to bring a wallet with me. I can go in my PJ's...oh believe me, I'm sure I will at some point. Best of all, Paisley has had a nap almost every afternoon since we have moved here. Hooray.

Now, on to more figuring out where to put all of our things! We're almost there...3 weeks later. :)

FOUND

Well, the camera lost it's mind.... took pictures of whatever it wanted and went on a much needed break...to the Polly Pocket Pool Party bin...he must be male. I'm trying to figure out any other possible explanations...I don't know, look at the pictures and let me know if you see any evidence...

NYC, there are some things that you just ROCK at...

...We walked to Duane Reade for "special treats" in the rain, b/c we couldn't stand playing, cleaning and sitting inside any longer. As I reached for a basket, I noticed that it actually had a long handle, with wheels on the bottom! Have any of you ever noticed this? Is it new? Have any of you ever held a heavy basket so long that your forearm turns blue and falls asleep like mine does? I started giggling like a 3 year old b/c I was so excited about them!

Also, I can't describe how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how pro-active organizations are here in the city. If there is a high number of incidences, for anything...people start informing people. From anti-smoking around kids, to respecting women, to lead in paint, to talking to your baby with a high pitched voice, to spending time with your child even when you are tired/busy...does anyone else see these commercials and ads EVERYWHERE? I guess some cities assume that these issues are common sense, and there are probably plenty of people here that do not educate themselves, but I admit, it puts me into place when I see these reminders!! You know, about how much of an example we are to our children?! I watch a PBS commercial, start crying and then need to go hug and kiss my kids, b/c I'm so thankful that we are not in one of the crazy/scary situations that a lot people are in.
So tell me, Vegas MOMS, besides pool safety and maybe a couple of anti-smoking commercials...what kinds of ads and commercials do you see that inform parents about their child's growth, development and safety and so on? I don't remember any, really! I know that the church has some good ones, but I don't see them everywhere. Anyways, just had to write all that!;)

A Few Recent Favorites

I want this piece of Art. From the moment I saw it, I wanted it. I am seriously thinking about using my Christmas money to buy it...and then I will carry it home from the IKEA Water Taxi. It will go so perfectly with all of my favorites. It's the least I deserve right... for holding my children on my chest ALL night for the past 5 years!?! That is my caption for that picture "Mother who has held her colicky baby for SO long, that she has flowers and plants GROWING in her hair!"

TRY THESE...I have had MAJOR cravings for coconut and chocolate and THESE are so delicious. There are only 12 cookies per bag however...they have been holding me over until my Girl Scout Cookies Arrive.

Ella has got me on a BANILLA Yogurt kick, and lucky for us, we found a 32oz container at our favorite grocery store...we can eat all the BANILLA we want now! (I couldn't find the actual BANILLA Yogurt Picture)


PS- I am not making good camera finding progress. It is VERY close. (in our apartment) yet I still haven't made it through the miscellaneous boxes to find it. Fun pictures to come...hopefully.

How long have you gone without a microwave OR How long could you go?

I thought of several people when I asked myself the question...1. Karisa: she'd starve without a microwave. 2. Janice: she LOVES her microwave...I do too though. 3. Mona: I know they've been without a microwave for long periods of time...how long was it actually, Mona?

We've been without a microwave for over a month...ours broke and we're waiting for the replacement to arrive...and ya know what? I wouldn't be all that bummed if it just didn't show up. All in all, it has been quite pleasant without it. All the girls miss from it is popcorn (I'm going to get Jiffy Pop)...and me, an easy way to warm up sauces. We've just been eating food out of the pan that we cook it in. :)(you know I would so do something like that, plus we just moved) Less dishes to do, with our non-existent dishwasher, right?.

ps. Don't buy a cheap Emerson Microwave from Target. They break.

She is all about religious discussions.

One day last week, as I was picking up Ella from school, her sweet friend said out loud, "and Ella and I are going to be in the same primary soon!" They seemed so excited that they would be in the same ward, it was precious.
Ella came home and told me that her teacher told her that she could only sing songs about Jesus at home! She and Madeline had been singing them together in class! (Isn't that what you were taught as a child?..."just hum your favorite hymn."
I asked her what song they were singing and it sounded like one that they have been learning this month from The Friend. It is my new favorite song...and Ella's too. I have to secretly leave the primary when they are singing it, b/c I would lose control crying every Sunday if I didn't! :) You know me. The tune and rhythm is so fun. Here is the song...are your kids learning this in primary also? I don't know how to condense this the right way so it's not a huge address...sorry...
