Clues as to what Ella's been learning in Kindergarten...

Holding up an American Indian Version of the Cinderella Story ...
"Is this book Fiction, or Non-fiction?"

"Mom?!", yelling from the living room while I am doing dishes,"how do you spell rhombus?"

She also taught us a little game...she picks a shape and draws it, then puts another piece of paper on top, hiding it and writes the following...

1. My shape has 3 corners.

2. My shape has three edges/sides.
3. My shape is 2D...as opposed to 3D... (I don't recall learning what 2d and 3d were in Kindergarten...are your kids learning about that?)
Do you know what shape it is?

She's also been making crazy graphs and coordinating different polls, like
"What's your favorite color?" I remember my nephew Caden doing things like that...
Seriously, I'm not going to be much help with homework once she hits the third grade.
My favorite by far is when I found her binding her own book, inspired by her Uncle Joe, with thread and a three hole punch. This is what it says on each page...

It's called...

"I Love Mom" by Ella.

"I love plaen wif mom."

"I love rubing moms back."

"I love how mom takes care uv me."

Love that girl. She's become such a delightful little person. In some ways, it seems like it happens so naturally. She is pretty typical for her age. In other ways, I can really see that need for us to teach her consistently in areas that she doesn't just learn by herself. It's definitely been a learning experience for all of us.

I think we've got some of the same issues...except there are HUGE fundraisers that go on and people calling for us to make donations CONSTANTLY. It is insane. And since a lot of people can't afford to send their children to private schools anymore, the public schools are crowded.

It's funny, Ella is by no means one of the advanced children in her class. I feel like my expectations are kind of low for my kids and what they learn, so any progress is exciting to see, even if it's completely typical. :) It's just so fun to see them grow up isn't it?

Ella is SO SMART..I cannot believe how quickly kids learn and the things they remember is remarkable.
