Mt. Vernon Hotel Museum

This past Tuesday, the girls and I took a very much needed step back in time at the Mt. Vernon Hotel Museum, 1 of the 7 oldest buildings in New York City.
It was a very rainy day, but I refuse to let anything stop me from where I have planned to go. And once we got there, like usual I was so glad that we did it. It added to the traveling back in time effect. All group tours had been canceled and we were the only visitors our entire stay! It is owned by the Colonial Dames of America, which is apparently a much tougher group to get into than Daughters of the Revolution. Anyone a Daughter of Utah Pioneers out there? (Thanks to my mother in law, I actually knew what groups the woman was speaking about. lol. Oh, I'm pathetic)

This is such an amazing place. You've got to look at this link and read about it. I am so interested...and you know me, I know nothing about history and can't stay interested in anything for long. It's like this little treasure that we somehow found.

We also learned the language of hand fanning, which is quite hilarious!
Dressing up like a little dame.
Built in 1799 as a carriage house and converted into a hotel in 1826. Visitors came to escape the hustle and bustle of the city...which at the time was only as far north as 14 th street! The Museum is on East 61st Street and 1st.

I had to bribe them to try on the dresses.

A worm was found.

Annabelle, the yarn doll. I promise I didn't even prompt her with that name. Ella has held her close every night since we made her.
Pictures were only allowed to be taken in one of the rooms.
I got a little crazy and chopped Paisley's bangs that morning...I couldn't take it any longer, it was becoming impossible to do her hair. Sigh...It was good, it just let me know that I really can't do it myself! I am so, so nervous about her bangs being cut too short...and what do I do? Cut them way too short. ps- Reagan, once those puppies grow out a bit, you know where we're headed!

Oh my gosh, yes! I didn't connect the two! And our mouths are exactly the same, so serious about women's rights! :)
