"Hurricane, it's the word on the street..."

...Is what Paisley said during breakfast the morning before it hit. The night before, the girls went to sleep with their goggles on, just in case the water flooded to the 10th floor.

I'm sure you heard...that Hurricane Irene was uneventful, from where we were at least.

Here's what our 24 hours looked like in our hood.

Approximately 45 minutes before the rain hit.
Went to Dunkin' Donuts for our second to last meal.
Head to Riverside Park to get some last minute play at Hippo.
Started Pouring.
Ran home.
Still don't regret it.

The garbage cans were all ready!

Then we got antsy during a rain break and went to The Graham's for our last supper. It was delish. We're getting really good at collaborating meals. :) Everyone played Rock Band, until we decided it was time to run home in the rain, again. Still don't regret it.
Approximately 45 Minutes after the rain stopped, the next morning.
Headed to Riverside Park.

Hot and Crusty was all boarded up!

Girls played under a tree until mother had intuition and said to move away from trees.
Branch fell right after I said it.
Girls screamed.
Thank heavens.

If we learned one thing from Irene, it was that Paisley has a hole in her rain boot. Oh, and that our window leaks when there is sideways rain.

The chicas were POSITIVE that these seashells that they found in the park, were ones that had blown up from the Hudson River, in a wave, during the hurricane. Thank heavens again, they were a bit disappointed there weren't new species of sea life hangin' out on the shore after. This had to do!

And this is when Paisley said, "That's a BIG tree, for a little storm!"

And just for the time capsule...
I had to go to three stores to find "D" batteries. It may have been because I was asking for "Double D Batteries" Whoops! That's a bra size, not a battery size. ;) Finally found 'em!

The bread shelves in the grocery stores ='d empty! That was the scariest, panic stricken moment for me. Going to buy our food for at least the next 10 days and it being completely gone.

Thankful for our safety. A little excitement is always fun though.
