Sugar and Spice.

I told Kennedy a BIG secret in the car, and she smiled. Only, She, I, her Daddy, her Grandma's, her Aunt Amy and all the other ladies at this table knew about it. But, not her MOMMY! Heeheeheehee. Karisa's sister-in-law, Mom and I had been planning her surprise bridal shower for months. And I must say, it was quite perfect. She had NO idea!

Walked the halls of Clark High School. They were decorated awesome for Homecoming week.(We only took pictures of ourselves. lol.
But it was really great to see and talk to people that I hadn't talked to in awhile. Especially those that I didn't have all that much in common with in HS, but do now.

Went to the Homecoming Football Game. WE WON!!!

Alumni met a Big Dog's after the game. Fun times!

Saturday: Karisa was so kind to let me take her car when needed. My mom and I went birthday shopping on Saturday morning exactly a month early! SO FUN! THanks for keeping me half way cute, Mom! We visited Grandma Thelma and brought her vanilla yogurt. Her staple! There are still those moment when Grandma Thelma's personality comes out. Like whenever she says, "Thank you, Honey!"

Then in the evening we had the more formal reunion at Herbs and Rye (in the old Venetian restaurant) And, I put my NYC parking skills to work and parallel parked Karisa's big SUV. You know it was good Karisa and Tara. ;)

Thanks for leaving your babies for awhile to hang out while I was in town, love you girls so much. Seriously, I got the most accepting, loving, caring, boost me up girlfriends ever! And best of all I've had them all along, my entire life! Tears now...MWA!

Monday, before my flight left, my family met at Macayo's with my Grandma Barbara and Grandpa Don.

The radiators have been turned on this past week. And it is one hot mother in our apartment. The other night, late at night, I was craving Hot Dog on a Stick Lemonade, BAD, because of the heat. (When I worked at Hot Dog, I'm pretty sure that I drank half of all the the five gallon batches that we made. With extra cherry and extra lemon juice.)

I made some lemonade out of our humidity tortured Country Time Lemonade, then Scott drank it all, then he made some for me. He dilutes it a little too much for my liking. We both started laughing when I told him... but first...

...Paisley will wake up in the early mornings, dried-out, with a little raspy voice. And in our sleep we can hear, she speaks really fast btw...

"Mommy, will you get me a drink of lemonade, in a sippy-cup, with two cups of Sugah and no watah?"

I usually say something like, "Ask Daddy." And then we hear,

"Daddy, will you get me a drink of lemonade in a sippy cup with two cups of sugah and no watah?"

After a few more minutes, one of us will get up and make it for.

So after Scott drank all my lemonade, and I refused his diluted version, I said,

"I want two cups of sugah...and no watah!!"

It was hilarious to us, b/c neither of us ever talk about it the next day, outside of our 3am sleepy foggy state.

Ella, with the HUGE leaf that Uncle Jason brought home from his walk.

He's visting right now! Yay!

There's a very small handful of people that I've talked to, about this boy in Ella's class. He's darling, and curious and talkative. They sit at the same table in class.

Before bed one night last week, Ella told me what he said in class that day...

"Briklynn, you're named after a brick. And, Mariella, you're named after Jesus' Mother."

This is the same boy who I've heard ask different people, including us, on several occasions,

"Are you Jewish... or Catholic?"

And those may be the fluffiest of the conversations we have had since we've known him for a little over a year and that are appropriate to talk about on my little blog.

But, he may or may not tell his mom that Scott is "cute" and he may or may not rub in the fact (a little too much) that I'm over 15 years younger than his mother. (His mother is beautiful by the way, and, I happen to think that mothers who have their children in their 40's have a certain wisdom and patience about them, that I envy.)

He makes me laugh with his darling, innocent, curious ways.

Multitasking is one of my favorite things about riding public transportation.

Reading. (though most of the time it's just the ads on the train) Talking with my girls. Going over math problems with them. Staring at people. Getting out snacks without feeling like I'm not completely focused on the road. Having conversations with passengers. Even putting on make-up, I have done on the train...though I do get quite a few stares.

One thing I can not do on the train however, is dump out my purse while searching for something, which is something that I need to do often. Very often.



I love those chocolate colored seats.

One of my favorite things to do is drop off the girls in the morning at school, then go sit in our car that is parked nicely on our street, just to put on my make-up. It's like a special treat vacation! Or go downstairs to have a phone conversation in the car. It makes me so happy, like it's an extra 4 x 6 space, all of my own! A storage unit, a spa, a transporter, a safe, relaxing place. :)

I heart Central Park. Again.

Story time with Hans. There was an actual story time this day that we were out. We were sitting under a huge tree, in front of this monument/statue, where the professional storyteller recalled a story by Hans Christian Anderson. I believe it was about the earth and the trees and the winds and animals. It was if the squirrel in the tree branches was listening. It kept dropping acorns and acorn shavings all over the audience during the story. It was crazy!

So there are children and adults climbing all over these monuments/statues. Scott had a little issue with letting our children climb on them, saying that it was disrespectful. He's so considerate. I somewhat agree. But, wouldn't there be a sign that said to not do so? Hmm... I'm thinking that as they get older (like 8 or 9), we will go by the no climbing on monuments rule, even if there are other's climbing. Yup, that's what we're gonna do.

We walk by an elementary school quite often and this little boy's quote, that is on these huge blocks, makes me cry for him everytime I walk past and read it. Had to share. His name is Robert Nelson, Age 7.

We stopped by Ricky's New York for some Halloween fun. Have you ever been in one of their regular stores? I haven't.
They are kind of like these trendy, eighties, accessory, dress-up stores, but they open up dozens of temporary Halloween stores during October.

First we tried on masks.

Then we noticed all the signs everywhere that stated to not try on masks and to not take pictures.

Oh well.

We got a not-so-scary Disney Princess Pumpkin Carving Kit.

Ella kind of amazes me sometimes. Just when I am almost convinced that there's nothin' in that noggin', she thinks of something like, "Hey, I'll find a stick that fits perfectly in the holes to attach this hitch to the tractor." Love that one.
