We've been without a microwave for over a month...ours broke and we're waiting for the replacement to arrive...and ya know what? I wouldn't be all that bummed if it just didn't show up. All in all, it has been quite pleasant without it. All the girls miss from it is popcorn (I'm going to get Jiffy Pop)...and me, an easy way to warm up sauces. We've just been eating food out of the pan that we cook it in. :)(you know I would so do something like that, plus we just moved) Less dishes to do, with our non-existent dishwasher, right?.
ps. Don't buy a cheap Emerson Microwave from Target. They break.
My camera is amongst the plethora of bags and boxes...I hope to post some pics of our apartment soon.

Out of the 5 years Spencer and i have been married...i think we were WITHOUT a microwave for about three years total. I really love ours, i don't think i could live without it for that long again!!!!!! It makes life that much easier.....chicken nuggets ready in 1 minute, or 12 minutes in the oven.....when the kids are SCREAMING for lunch....I'll go with 1 minute :)
I guess you don't know how much you use your appliances til you don't have it! I love my microwave, and though I could probably live without it...it just makes heating lunch so much quicker for the kids (and me). On the other hand, I feel I'm missing something in my kitchen, seriously, I'm dying to get a bosch or a kitchen aide...one day!!
I couldn't go two days without mine. I use it almost every meal. I am dying to see pictures of your new apartment. We might be moving next month. Keep your fingers crossed. Love Ya
We grew up without one. Ritchie and I in 8 years of marriage have had a micro for 2 years. I really don't miss it. I had to learn to do stuff in the micro, and really....I don't like the taste of stuff that has been nuked. Ritchie grew up with one...and all he likes them for is popping the 100 calorie bags of popcorn!
Interesting post!!
Hi parmenters! I just went 4 months without my microwave. I was too stubborn to re-buy the $200 trim kit to fit the hole! So...Todd welded and painted me one. I have a future business for him when the ER gets old...which is real soon I am afraid! Thanks for sharing your blog. Mine is this site under: 7loveablelarsons
lisa...family is great!
I know Brad and I couldn't go too long without one. When we met he told me about how he cooked EVERYTHING in the microwave. It was one of the first things I bought when I moved out! We don't use it every single day, but enough that I can't go without!
I agree with Mona, screaming kids wanting lunch, it is so much easier!
glad to hear that people can live without a microwave. we moved and among the many many many things we have to buy and can't afford, a microwave is one of them. well, we haven't gotten one yet. but you give me hope!! silly me, i know. but i really need to get my stove in! it's kinda impossible to do anything without a stove, or microwave, or even a fridge! aah! sorry so long.
