Christmas afternoon, my Mom went to pick up Grandma. When my mom picked her up, she said that everyone in the home had a Shrek doll from Build-a-Bear and they were singing Christmas Carols! She joined us for dinner and then we all gathered around to watch her open her Christmas presents. She loved the owl necklace that Jen got her. It was the best that I had seen Grandma out of the 3 or 4 times that we got to see her during this trip. When we went to visit her a few days before she wasn't feeling well. Ella had brought her a yellow rose, so we got a glass and set the rose on her bedside table for her to enjoy later.
Sweet Ella always brings me to tears when she is around Grandma. She kept bending upside down so that she could see her face, while Grandma was resting in her chair, trying to talk to her . I noticed a cat in Grandma's room as we entered, that lives there (in the assisted living home for people with Alzheimer's.) It is one of several animals that live there. I was a little confused as to why there was a cat sitting in my Grandma's room mostly thinking about germs and cleanliness and then Ella said
so clearly,
"I know why there are animals here. It's so they can Love all of the old people up."
so clearly,
"I know why there are animals here. It's so they can Love all of the old people up."
And that is the truth.
My Grandparents had a "Big Eyes" wall in their home growing up. My mom brought the pictures to Grandma's new home. The pic in the middle is my mom, the others are my siblings and I, and our children. Can you guess who is who?

I cherish this picture.
